HUUM Wood Stoves

One thing better than a sauna experience is one that’s accompanied by the sound of a crackling fire.

Enter wood stoves.

Established Estonian sauna solutions provider HUUM has an award-winning selection of wood-burning sauna stoves with unique designs, large stone capacities, and efficient heating.

The HUUM HIVE Wood Series is available in two variants, HUUM HIVE Wood 13 and 17. The HIVE Wood 13 has 199 lbs of stones and can heat sauna rooms sized 212 to 456 cu ft, while the HIVE Wood 17 has 287 lbs of stones and is suitable for 283 to 565 cu ft rooms. Both stoves are excellent choices for small and medium saunas.

There’s also the HUUM HIVE Heat Series with a slightly lower power capacity at 12 kW and a stone capacity of 199 lbs, able to heat 212 to 459 cu ft sauna rooms.

HUUM HIVE Flow Series is the brand’s latest innovation with unique airflow that allows 75% heat usage rather than letting it escape into the chimney. This 330-lb capacity model also has lower CO emissions, making it one of the most environmentally friendly wood-burning stoves on the market.

All HUUM wood stoves are available in the LS version, which means you can have an elongated firebox to load firewood from another room.

FAQs

What Makes Huum Wood Stoves Different From Other Sauna Stoves?

What sets HUUM wood-burning sauna stoves apart is their modern and sleek design with minimal metal use and large stone capacities. All these features also mean that their wood stoves can generate consistent heat and more steam for your sauna room, which is why HUUM stoves are popular with those looking for both performance and style.

How Do I Maintain a Huum Wood Stove?

To ensure optimal performance and extended lifetime of your HUUM wood stoves, you need to empty the ash drawer before each heating, clean heating surfaces regularly, check the stone condition at least annually or after 300 hours of use, and check the furnace ducts, chimney, and flue for blockages.

Are Hum wood stoves suitable for both indoor and outdoor saunas?

Yes, you can use HUUM wood stoves for both indoor and outdoor saunas. For indoor saunas, ensure you have proper ventilation to clear out the combustion. As for outdoor saunas, you may require additional weatherproofing as well as proper ventilation.

How Long Does It Take for a HUUM Wood Stove to Heat Up a Sauna?

The time it takes for HUUM wood stoves to heat a sauna depends on the model and size of your sauna rooms. If you choose the right capacity for your room, it’ll take about 30 to 60 minutes to reach the optimal room temperature.

What Size Sauna Is Best for a HUUM Wood Stove?

Hum wood stoves have several models to choose from, and they can fit different room sizes. For example, the HUUM HIVE Wood 17 can heat sauna rooms sized 283 to 565 cu ft, while the smaller HUUM HIVE Wood 13 is suitable for smaller saunas sized 212 to 459 cu ft.

Do HUUM Wood Stoves Require a Chimney?

Yes, HUUM wood stoves will require a chimney to clear out the combustion created from burning wood. With proper ventilation, smoke and gases can be safely vented from the saunas to maintain air quality inside the room.

Can I Add Water to the Rocks on a Huum Wood Stove?

Yes, you can add water to the rocks on your Hum wood stoves. They’re designed to be doused by water to create an authentic Nordic sauna experience with steam. Because HUUM wood stoves have large stone capacities, you’ll also have a softer and more consistent steam generation.

What Type of Wood is Best for Use in a Huum Wood Stove?

We recommend using hardwood, such as oak, birch, maple, or ash. That’s because hardwoods are denser and can burn more efficiently, creating a steady heat and consistent sauna temperature throughout your session.

Are HUUM Wood Stoves Environmentally Friendly?

Yes, HUUM wood-burning sauna stoves are designed to be environmentally friendly. They are efficient and can hold the temperature longer with their large volume of stones, so you won’t need to use as much wood. One of their latest designs, the HUUM HIVE Flow, also incorporates innovative furnace construction, resulting in less heat loss and carbon emissions.

Can I Install a HUUM Wood Stove Myself, or Should I Hire a Professional?

We recommend hiring a professional when installing your wood stove because they will ensure proper ventilation, spacing, safety, and compliance with local regulations and building codes. Incorrect installation could not only mean poor performance, but it can also be a safety hazard.
